Sibling Prep-Nature Bag

Many of our customers send us e-mails asking about ideas for preparing a first child for their new brother or sister to be, so as soon as we met the creators/Mothers of this local company nature Bag we knew we had to get some in for our customers!

Not only are these bags great for kids in general, but we love them because they are crammed with outdoor activities that are perfect for parents, grandparents, or friends to do with kids who are needing a little extra attention since their new sibling arrived!

Here are a few great reasons why nature bag is great for Sibling prep:

Children who have just become a big sister or brother often feel left out of the excitement and wish that they were little again so things could be as they were, sometimes kids regress a little for this reason, which is perfectly normal, but frustrating for parents none the less!

Having little gifts or activities prepared before a new sibling arrives is a great idea and gives little ones something special to do with whatever parent is free, grandparents or other visiting family and friends.

Dr Susan Bartell, author of several great Sibling Prep articles suggests suggests that parents
-Spend some “special time” alone with your older child. Even fifteen minutes a day can help him feel you value him and you don’t want to be with the baby all the time (this goes for mom and dad.)
You’d be surprised how clearly kids can tell us what they need, and how resilient they can be when we are able to figure out how to meet their needs in the best way possible.

We have one for each of our kids{ages 10 and 6} and they love packing them up for family hikes!

All our paper products are made from 100% post consumer waste card or paperand printed with vegetable based inks. No new trees were cut down to make our booklet, leaf viewers and colourcards.

Why Hemp Twine?
Hemp is a natural resource which grows well without the help of pesticides and herbicides. It is a durable and biodegradable product.

Why Soy-based Crayons?
Unlike traditional petroleum-based crayons, these earth-friendly crayons are made from all natural pigments and soybean oil. Soy is a renewable resource and the crayons are biodegradable and certified non-toxic. Soy crayons are also easier to use: they glide smoother and don’t flake.
  Why a Rubberwood Magnifier?
The magnifying glass is made from rubberwood. The wood from the Pará Rubber tree is a strong, tightly grained wood that is ideal for toys. It is commonly cultivated in South America and Asia for its natural latex sap but when the trees have reached 30 years in age, sap production greatly diminishes. So, instead of these valuable trees going to waste, they are cut down for timber, and new rubber trees are planted to replenish the stock. Unlike mahogany or teak, rubberwood, is considered a sustainable source of wood.
